Systemic Listening Therapy (SLT) is about bringing a person into wholeness.

Listening is what wipes the slate clean and enables the body to experience the sensations of relaxation and stimulations to the point where auditory function and emotional regulation are optimized.

Why Sonum SLT?

Everything you need to know about SLT

  • Systemic Listening Therapy (SLT) is a non-invasive, holistic approach that uses music and professional guidance to enhance listening, focus, learning, and communication. By resetting how we process sound, SLT helps the body reach a state of relaxation and stimulation, optimising both auditory function and emotional regulation. Using digital technology, the music's frequency spectrum is continuously adjusted—shifting between higher and lower frequencies—to create alternating calming and stimulating effects. This process trains the brain to perceive better and process auditory information, significantly improving emotional well-being and social skills for both children and adults.

  • Spend two hours relaxing and listening to specially modulated frequencies of classical music, through specialised bone-conduction headphones. There is nothing that you actively have to do in a session— you can even sleep through it if you feel like it! The music does the job on your senses and rewires your brain. I will set you up with all of this and guide you along the way on what the outcomes and process will feel like. If your child is doing a session, they will have a safe quiet space, and a variety of toys and crafts to help them pass the time.

  • Everyone can benefit from SLT, whether you are an adult or a child. if you’re looking for a calming safe environment to improve focus and alleviate chronic brain fog, reduce stress, burnout and anxiety, and ease symptoms of depression and fatigue, or simply want to get better at accents or learning a new language, then SLT is for you. SLT is also a therapeutic session for neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc) minds to regulate, process, and build resilience.
In children, particularly those with conditions with learning and developmental disabilities like ADHD or Autism, SLT aids emotional regulation, sociability, cognitive engagement, and enhances language processing— helping them express themselves more clearly and authentically.

  • Your journey with us begins with a warm and personalised consultation, during which we take the time to understand your needs and answer any questions you may have. We’ll then use an initial assessment and a simple listening test to create a customised listening plan just for you.

  • Our approach is structured in four key phases to bring lasting benefits. Each phase includes a dedicated listening period and a break to allow your system to process and integrate the changes. At the beginning and end of each phase, we’ll check in with a routine listening test to track your progress.
    Our Listening Phases:
Phase 1: 15 days of listening (2 hours per day, with a Sunday break) → 4-8 week break
Phase 2: 8 days of listening (2 hours per day, with a Sunday break) → 6-8 week break
Phase 3: 8 days of listening (2 hours per day, with a Sunday break) → 6-8 week break
Phase 4: 8 days of listening (2 hours per day, with a Sunday break)
For long-term benefits, a minimum of four phases is recommended, but we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

  • Systemic Listening Therapy is rooted in the groundbreaking research of Dr. Alfred Tomatis (1920-2001), a French ear, nose, and throat physician. Dr. Tomatis discovered a fundamental link between the ear and the voice, shaping what would become the Tomatis Method.
His research led to the development of the Electronic Ear, a device that used frequency adjustments, gated music, and bone conduction to help individuals regain missing frequencies in their listening profile. This discovery opened the door to a range of therapeutic applications for language development, learning, and emotional regulation. Since 2007, the Auris Integralis Institute in Germany has expanded on Dr. Tomatis’s work, incorporating the latest research in neurobiology and neuropsychology. Their refinements have transformed listening therapy into a more holistic and integrative approach, now known as Systemic Listening Therapy. And that is where I did my listening therapy program (more details here)

  • Yes! Absolutely! By combining advances in brain plasticity, auditory processing, and emotional regulation, Systemic Listening Therapy helps individuals improve cognitive function, language acquisition, emotional well-being, and overall sensory integration.
This therapy continues to evolve, offering powerful benefits for neurodivergent individuals, those experiencing stress and burnout, and anyone seeking a deeper connection between listening, learning, and self-regulation.

  • No, because all of the equipment is specialized and not something that can be recreated in a home audio system. And you will not have someone guiding you through the process.
